Colombia is a South-american country, limited the north for the Sea of the Caraíbas, the east for Venezuela and Brazil, the south for Peru and the Equator and the west for the Pacific Ocean and Panama. Beyond the continental territory, it also includes two small territories insulares: the territory of San Andrés and Providencia, in the Sea of the Caraíbas, and the island of Malpelo, in the Pacific. Area: 1 138 910 km ². Capital: Bogota. Population (2003): 44 531 434. Its form of government is the Republic.Colombia is the third more populous country of Latin America, after Brazil and Mexico. We can consider three main ethnic groups: the aboriginals (native group of the region), the blacks (of African origin, come as enslaved to work, mainly in the gold mines) and the whites (descending of Spaniard).
